Georgian Parliament Speaker meets newly appointed French Ambassador
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, held an introductory meeting with Olivier Courteaud, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Georgia.
The discussion underscored the longstanding and friendly ties between Georgia and France.
Shalva Papuashvili expressed his gratitude for France’s steadfast support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and its unwavering stance on the non-recognition of the occupied regions.
The French Ambassador acknowledged that since the dawn of Georgia’s independence, France has consistently stood by the country. In today’s complex global landscape, he emphasised, respect for and support of sovereignty, unity, and independence are of paramount importance.
The meeting also addressed the political situation and current developments within Georgia, and the parties highlighted the significance of diplomacy in fostering relations rooted in mutual national interests.
Both parties also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between Georgia and France, as well as to advancing Georgia’s European integration. They underlined the importance of maintaining an open and constructive dialogue founded on trust.
