Georgian Parliament Speaker meets Lok Sabha Chair

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and the parliamentary delegation were hosted in the Indian Parliament. Following the welcoming ceremony, the Speaker made an inscription in the Book of Honorary Guests.

Shalva Papuashvili met Shri Om Birla, the Chairman of the lower chamber of the Indian Parliament, Lok Sabha, which means “House of the People.”

The sides positively assessed the Georgia-India bilateral relations. They reviewed cooperation in trade, economy, tourism, culture and education, accentuating the growing significance of the Middle Corridor project.

Papuashvili thanked Shri Om Birla for India’s support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He remarked that the Indian Embassy was already operating in Tbilisi, and Georgia was looking forward to the first Indian ambassador’s appointment.

The delegation, led by Shalva Papuashvili, comprises Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Shota Berekashvili, Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee, Vasil Chigogidze, Head of the Friendship Group with India, and Genrieta Tsitsava, Deputy Chair of the Georgian Dream faction.
