Georgian military para-athletes bring home multiple medals from Invictus Games in Canada
Georgian military para-athletes have returned home from the Invictus Games in Canada with remarkable achievements, bringing two gold and one silver medal.
Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani, Chief of Defence Forces Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, and Deputy Defence Minister Paata Patiashvili welcomed the triumphant team at Tbilisi International Airport. The officials congratulated the athletes on their outstanding performance and thanked them for representing Georgia with distinction.
The Georgian team achieved exceptional results in individual events:
– Corporal Temur Dadiani secured a gold medal in the skiing sprint competition in Whistler
– Corporal Alika Gitolendia claimed gold in the one-minute indoor rowing event and silver in the four-minute competition in Vancouver
This year’s Invictus Games hosted both winter and summer tournaments simultaneously in the Canadian cities of Vancouver and Whistler. The international para-sports competition, established in 2014 under the patronage of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, has seen Georgia’s injured military personnel participate successfully since its inception, consistently earning top medals.
The Ministry of Defence ensured their family members could accompany them to Canada.
The Invictus Games is an international sporting event for wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans.
