Georgian Health Minister engages in bilateral talks during demographic summit in North Macedonia

During the International Ministerial Conference on Demographic Sustainability held in North Macedonia, Georgia’s Minister of Health, Mikheil Sarjveladze, participated in a series of bilateral meetings.

According to the Georgian Ministry of Health, he met with Pio Smith, Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Their discussions centred on demographic shifts, the enhancement of health and social protection systems, and prospects for future collaboration. Attending the meeting were Florence Bauer, UNFPA Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and Mariam Bandzeladze, Head of the Georgian Office.

As part of his visit, Minister Sarjveladze also held talks with Mark Pearson, Director of Employment, Labour and Social Affairs at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The two sides explored mechanisms to address challenges within the labour market and adapt to demographic changes.

The meetings in North Macedonia were attended by Zaza Lominadze, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Health and Social Affairs, and Zurab Khamashuridze, Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
