Georgian government launches next stage of social assistance program

“The new year begins with a new stage of targeted social assistance program, which includes the provision of social support to our citizens”, Georgia Prime Minister, Giorgi Gakharia said at today’s meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council.

Prime Minister spoke in detail about the government’s targeted social assistance program designed due to the Covid-19 pandemic crisis. He noted that citizens should receive their assistance as soon as possible.

“First of all, people who officially lost their jobs from December 2020 will receive a total of 1,200 GEL in assistance from the state over the next six months.

Secondly, every citizen whose social rating score is between 65 00 and 100 000 will receive 100 GEL monthly for six months.

Furthermore, the families with a social rating score between 0 and 100,000 and who have three or more children under the age of 16 will receive 100 GEL monthly for six months. Additionally, persons with disabilities under 18 and persons with severe disabilities will get the same state assistance.

The budget of this social assistance program makes approximately 610 million GEL”, PM said.
