Georgian Foreign Minister and UN Secretary General hold phone conversation
Davit Zalkaliani, Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs held a phone conversation with António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.
As Foreign Ministry told Georgian First Channel, the telephone conversation was preceded by discussions about occupied regions of Georgia with OSCE Chairman and EU High Representative.
Zalkaliani provided Guterres with the information about the current situation across Georgia’s occupied regions, violation of human rights and latest illegal borderization works and installation of artificial barriers by occupational forces. Talks touched upon the so-called presidential elections held in occupied Abkhazia on August 25.
The Georgian side once again expressed commitment to de-escalation of the situation and peaceful regulation of the conflict including with constructive participation in the internationally mediated Geneva negotiations and meetings of Group on Incidents Prevention and Response Mechanisms.
Georgian Foreign Minister thanked UN Secretary General for support to Georgia and for the organization’s active involvement in the process of peaceful resolution of Georgia’s territorial conflicts.
Secretary-General of the United Nations reiterated support to Georgia’s territorial integrity and state sovereignty.
