Georgian FM: Under GD government people witnessed meaning of European integration process
The Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, said that the Georgian Dream government is consistently implementing policies that bring the country closer to the European family.
“It was under our government that the Georgian people physically witnessed what the process of European integration means, and we made this foreign policy priority a constitutional norm. Accordingly, our government is entirely focused on ensuring that Georgia sees concrete, tangible results,” Ilia Darchiashvili told the GPB First Channel.
The Minister highlighted that the historical decision regarding candidate status is crucial, and the government is committed to moving forward with European integration.
“Our opponents are trying to mislead the population with a new narrative. They talk as if negotiations should be opened today or tomorrow. Of course, we are in a hurry for European integration, and Georgia’s ultimate goal is full membership, though it depends on many factors. On the one hand, this involves implementing reforms, which is the responsibility of our government and a long-term process. On the other hand, we are consistently working with our European partners so that the situation matures and this political decision is taken. We assure the population that the government of Georgia, along with each diplomat, will spare no effort to maintain this dynamic, ensuring that Georgia consistently moves towards full membership,” Ilia Darchiashvili stated.
According to him, Georgia’s European integration is based on the line of irreversible reforms in the country.
