Georgian FM meets her Chinese colleague

Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, met her colleague, Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, during her official visit to Beijing.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the two colleagues reviewed Georgia-China bilateral partnership-related issues.

Maka Botchorishvili thanked her Chinese colleague for inviting Georgia to the China International Import Exhibition in the status of a guest of honor and for high-level hospitality.

The ministers focused on prospects to intensify relations in the economy, education, science, culture and tourism. They accentuated the significance of peace in the Caucasus region, connectivity and Georgia’s special role in the development of the Middle Corridor.

Georgian and Chinese Foreign Ministers stressed trade-economic ties dynamics and the significance of the free trade agreement.

Chinese FM reiterated China’s support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, while Georgian FM reconfirmed support for One China Policy.

“It is noteworthy that in the last 10 years, this was the first official visit of the Georgian Foreign Minister to China and the first bilateral meeting between the Foreign Ministers of the two countries since 2019,” the Foreign Ministry of Georgia said.
