Georgian FM: EU bureaucracy’s double standards toward Georgia entirely non-pragmatic
“The actions of today’s European bureaucracy toward Georgia are completely devoid of pragmatism, and they do not serve Europe’s interests—either in relation to Georgia or globally,” said Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili.
According to the Minister, this reality is deeply concerning.
“The European bureaucracy is failing to protect not only Georgian interests, but even Europe’s own interests. This harms relations, including with Georgia. Georgia is a country that needs the European Union, but the European Union also needs Georgia—particularly to safeguard its interests in security and the economy. The double standards applied by the European bureaucracy toward Georgia are entirely non-pragmatic.” Botchorishvili stated.
When asked by a journalist to comment on the United States’ decision to impose sanctions on a former European Commissioner and four other individuals, the Minister briefly responded: “I sympathize.”
