Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream Party, and members of the Georgian parliamentary delegation met with Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary-General of the Council of Europe, on the sidelines of the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

Kakha Kuchava, Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, said ongoing political processes in Georgia were the main topic for discussions.

“CoE Secretary-General is well informed about the political processes in Georgia. She expressed hope that the Georgian delegation would be represented fully, including opposition politicians, at the next PACE session,” Kuchava said.

Kakha Kuchava reported that the CoE Secretary-General was aware of the government’s plan to file an official application for EU membership in 2024 and the legislative amendments and electoral system reform carried out in the summer.
