On October 14, Georgia celebrates Svetitskhovloba, a day of Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta, recognized as the home of Christ’s mantle.
Last year, the Georgian Orthodox Church cancelled all celebrations because of the Vake Park tragedy in Tbilisi. An accident claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl, who was electrocuted along with two other teens on October 13 while attempting to retrieve a ball that had fallen into the Vake Park fountain.
Svetitskhovloba is celebrated twice a year, on October 14 and July 13. It dates back to the 4th century.
