Georgian Bar Association holds conference in celebration of Lawyers’ Day
The Georgian Bar Association hosted a conference on November 8 celebrating Lawyers’ Day.
This year’s conference theme was “Advancing Towards Europe: The Legal Profession’s Mission in Upholding the Rule of Law.”
Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association Davit Asatiani, Director of the Legal Aid Service Davit Simonia, and Charge d’Affaires of Spain in Georgia, Marcos Granados Gómez, addressed the attendees, alongside invited international experts.
“As an ancient profession, the role of a lawyer is to protect human rights and uphold the rule of law, which are fundamental cornerstones of European values. Since gaining independence, Georgia has been committed to European integration, which necessitates enhancing the principles of the rule of law, human rights, and democratic governance. The Georgian Bar Association continuously works to strengthen the judicial system, as evidenced by the various projects and initiatives the Association undertakes in collaboration with international partners,” stated Davit Asatiani.
Following tradition, an oath-taking ceremony will be held following the conference, during which 150 new members will formally join the legal community. Lawyers who have completed the professional adaptation program will solemnly take their oaths.
