Georgian bakery businesses obliged to apply HACCP from June

Bread manufacturers in Georgia will be required to follow Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles beginning on June 1.

Levan Silagava, the Executive Director of the Georgian Wheat and Flour Producers Association, said the mills in the association are high tech, “they just don’t have an official certificate.”

“Several mills have even obtained the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standard, which is a far higher norm. As a result, implementing the HACCP is not an issue for our association mills,” Silagava remarked.

The HACCP is an internationally recognised food safety management system that assists food businesses in identifying, evaluating, and controlling hazards on their premises.
