Georgian and Greek Culture Ministers meet

Within the working visit to the Hellenic Republic, the Minister of Culture of Georgia, Tinatin Rukhadze, met with the Minister of Culture of Greece, Lina Mendonis, the Ministry of Culture reported.

The meeting focused on existing cultural cooperation between Georgia and Greece and explored opportunities to further develop it. Both parties emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects in theater, literature, music, and museums, as well as signing a memorandum of cooperation in the field of culture. Tinatin Rukhadze invited her Greek counterpart to Georgia for an official visit to finalize the signing of the document.

Attention was given to a concert by the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra and the Georgian State Choir, scheduled for April 8 at the Greek National Opera within the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, highlighting the strong cultural ties between the two countries.

The parties also discussed organizing Georgian and Greek Culture Days to further strengthen bilateral relations. In addition, cooperation between the Georgian National Museum and the European Center for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments as well as the Museum of Byzantine and Christian Art, was explored, with potential initiatives including joint research, conservation and restoration projects, exhibitions, and exchange programs for museum specialists.

“We had a very interesting meeting. Our countries share much in common. We discussed joint projects in archaeology, museums, art, and youth programs. The next meeting will likely take place in Georgia. Our shared Christian roots provide a strong foundation for deepening relations,” said Tinatin Rukhadze.

As part of the visit, Nikolaos Stampolidis, Director General of the Acropolis Museum, gave Tinatin Rukhadze a tour of the museum.
