Georgian Ambassador to Turkey publishes photos of grave of Gurji Khatun and her son
Georgian Ambassador Plenipotentiary to Turkey Giorgi Janjghava published the photos of the newly-discovered grave of Gurji Khatun and her son, previously considered as lost in the social network.
“The remains are already sent to the expertise. I am sure that Georgia-Turkey common cultural heritage will generate big interest in the public,” Giorgi Janjghava wrote on Facebook.
Gurji Khatun was a Georgian royal princess from Bagrationi dynasty and Queen consort of Sultanate of Rum being the favorite wife of sultan Kaykhusraw II. She was born as Tamar and was named after her grandmother Queen Tamar the Great.
