Georgia, Uzbekistan agree to execute innovative initiatives

Georgian Deputy Economy Minister of Irakli Nadareishvili, and his Uzbek colleague

Shahrukh Daliev signed an action plan for collaboration in startup ecosystem development.

The signing took place during the working visit of the Georgian Economy Ministry ‘s delegation to Uzbekistan.

The parties agreed to promote innovative and technological education, joint educational initiatives, and institutional partnership.

As Irakli Nadareishvili stated during the meeting, approximately ten years ago, “Georgia essentially started developing an innovative ecosystem from scratch and has achieved significant results, including that IT service exports have fundamentally changed the country’s export structure, growing from virtually zero to 900 million dollars.”

Georgian Minister went on to say that “In recent years, around 150 international companies have begun operations in the country, and the number of employees in the sector has exceeded 10,000.”

The parries agreed that Georgia and Uzbekistan will work on implementing joint projects in the Kutaisi Technology Hub.
