Georgia to face Serbia in final Euro 2025 qualifier

The Georgian basketball team, having already secured a spot in the 2025 European Championship finals, will play its final qualifying round match against Serbia today.

The GPB First Channel will broadcast the game live at 11:00 p.m.

Georgia earned its sixth consecutive EuroBasket qualification by defeating Denmark. Despite missing an injured naturalized American player, the team overcame a fortified Danish team in a decisive match, securing second place in the group. As a result, today’s Serbia-Georgia match in Belgrade will not impact the group rankings—Serbia remains first, and Georgia second.

Head coach Aleksandar Dzikić plans to give young players a chance in this final round, with Tornike Shengelia and Giorgi Shermadini absent from the squad.

The European Championship runs from August 27 to September 14 and will be hosted by Cyprus, Poland, Finland, and Latvia. The 24 participating teams will be divided into four groups, with the draw scheduled for March 27 in Riga, Latvia. The top four teams from each six-team group will advance to the Round of 16, with all playoff games taking place in Latvia.
