Georgia to expect cold weather, snow during New Year's days

Georgia will see cold weather and snow during the New Year’s days, the National Environment Agency (NEA) reported.

Scattered precipitation, predominantly in the form of snow, is anticipated across Georgia till January 3.

Scattered snowfall is possible in Tbilisi at the end of the day on December 31, and snow is expected from the second half of January 1 to the morning of January 2. The air temperature will be 0, -2 degrees at night, and +2, +4 degrees during the day.

It will be snowing in the coastal areas (Batumi, Kobuleti, Anaklia, Poti) with the air temperature of 0,+2 °C at night and +5, +7 °C during the day.

Snow is expected in the western regions (Zestaphoni, Samtredia, Zugdidi, Martvili, Ozurgeti). Mountainous zones should expect a blizzard with the air temperature dropping to -2 degrees.

It will be snowing in the eastern Shida Kartli, Kakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions. Air temperature at night will be -3,-5 at night, while +2,+4 during daytime.

The air temperature in the eastern mountainous zones (Akhaltsikhe, Borjomi, Dusheti, Tianeti, Pasanauri, Akhalkalaki, Tsakla, Bakuriani, Gudauri, Omalo) will drop to -15 °C at night.

The agency further noted that travel restrictions might be imposed on certain highways due to heavy snowfall, poor visibility, blizzards, ice, and avalanche risks.
