Georgia to assume BSEC organization’s chairmanship from January 1, 2026

Based on the decision of the 51st Foreign Ministerial meeting of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) on December 19, Georgia will assume the organization’s chairmanship for 6 months (January 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026).

According to the Foreign Ministry, Deputy Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili participated in the ministerial meeting. Addressing the meeting, he focused on connectivity, sustainability, and the need to strengthen cooperation.

“Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili spoke about the importance of increasing security in the Black Sea region, which is a necessary prerequisite for the sustainable and stable economic development of the BSEC member states. In addition, the importance of peaceful resolution of conflicts in the region, while respecting the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, was emphasized.

Deputy Foreign Minister accentuated connectivity in transport and energy spheres with Georgia’s participation in ongoing and scheduled projects of regional and strategic significance, peace and stability in the Black Sea region and the need for cooperation,” Foreign Ministry said.
