Georgia marks Defence Forces Day in Vaziani [Photo]

A solemn ceremony is taking place in Vaziani to mark Georgia’s Defence Forces Day.

The event featured a formal oath-taking ceremony for new conscripts, alongside the presentation of medals honouring soldiers for their unwavering dedication to the homeland.

Speakers at the gathering included President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani, and Commander of the Defence Forces Giorgi Matiashvili. Representatives from Georgia’s legislative and executive government are in attendance.

Today also commemorates the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Georgian Defence Forces.
