Georgia leads all EU candidate countries in Corruption-Free Index thanks to government reforms
“The European Union has released a study indicating that Georgia surpasses all EU candidate countries and even many EU member states, such as Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia, and others, in terms of the freedom from corruption index,” stated Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia.
According to Zhorzholiani, this achievement is the result of recent reforms and decisions implemented by the Georgian government.
“Furthermore, we can clearly see the proactive efforts of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, the Anti-Corruption Agency, and the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance in the fight against corruption. We are confident that next year, Georgia will achieve even better results, as the procurement system has been entirely overhauled and reformed, with additional supervisory tools and mechanisms introduced into government administration.
We have ambitious plans to rank among the top three least corrupt countries in Europe. These reforms, particularly those carried out in the latter half of 2025, are, I believe, set to enable us to reach this goal in the 2026 ratings,” said Levan Zhorzholiani.
