Georgia and China sign memorandums to deepen cooperation in agriculture and environmental protection
The Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Davit Songhulashvili, is paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China as part of the Georgian government delegation, led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
During the visit, two key memorandums were signed — On Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection between Georgia’s Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and On Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture between Georgia’s Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The agreements aim to deepen cooperation between the two countries in agriculture and environmental protection.
“The meeting between the prime ministers of the two countries was particularly important, as it provided the opportunity to sign memorandums on both environmental protection and agriculture,” said Davit Songhulashvili.
According to the minister, cooperation in the environmental field will expand to include waste management, biodiversity conservation, ecotourism, protected areas, and management capacity sharing.
“As for agriculture, sharing experience is particularly important, as it will help increase the productivity of agricultural production,” Songhulashvili added.
He also highlighted the significance of the agreement reached during the visit that enables the export of Georgian chicken meat to China — a move expected to strengthen Georgia’s agricultural sector and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
