Georgia abolishes office of Government's Deputy Parliamentary Secretary
The office of Deputy Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Georgia is to be abolished. The relevant amendments are being introduced to the Law on the Parliamentary Secretary.
The Government explains that, under the current situation, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Government has a deputy whose specific functions are not detailed.
“By law, the activities of the Government’s Parliamentary Secretary are supported by an authorised structural unit of the Government Administration, the Department for Relations with the Parliament and the President. One of its primary tasks is to facilitate the exercise of the powers for the Government’s Parliamentary Secretary defined by law. Consequently, there is a certain duplication of functions, which may, in some cases, adversely affect the timely consideration and resolution of specific matters,” the bill states.
