Geneva discussions to be dedicated to elaboration of statement on non-use of force

The 43th round of Geneva internationally mediated discussions of March 27-28 will be dedicated to elaboration of the joint statement on non-use of force. Working on the document continues for already six years.

Davit Dondua, Deputy Foreign Minister told First Channel that the text exists but is changed constantly. According to Dondua, Georgia perceives the statement as a push for new processes.

“This process is fulfillment of August 12, 2008 Georgia-Russia truce agreement and pullout of troops from Georgia’s territories. It is necessary that international security mechanisms are established across occupied territories,” Dondua said.

The next round of Geneva talks will be held on March 27-28 in Switzerland. However, informal consultations have already been launched with representatives of co-chairmen organizations (UN, EU, OSCE).
