General education reform proposes common textbooks for same discipline

“New textbooks will be written for the next 2-3 years,” announced Education Minister Givi Mikanadze during the presentation of the general education reform.

According to Givi Mikanadze, over the past six months, the Education Ministry selected groups of experts from various disciplines through a selection procedure.

“Within systemic and renewable resources, new textbooks will be written for the next 2-3 years. With that purpose, the Education Ministry, over the past six months, selected groups of experts from various disciplines through a selection procedure. The Ministry takes the responsibility to introduce the new textbooks based on a new standard: There will be no different textbooks. All schools will have to use common textbooks for the same discipline. This will ensure common quality, awareness, access to the process, and, most importantly, measurability,” he said.
