Geka Geladze appointed Deputy Interior Minister following SSSG’s exit

“Geka Geladze is set to assume the office of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced during a press briefing at the Government Administration.

The announcement follows Geladze’s resignation earlier today as Head of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG), after which Prime Minister Kobakhidze formally nominated Tamaz Borashvili as his successor.

“Today, the Head of the State Security Service, Geka Geladze, stepped down from his post. I want to thank Geka Geladze for his service. Geka Geladze is a person of exceptional integrity and a distinguished professional. Across his tenure heading both the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service, Geladze contributed significantly to guaranteeing state security and combating crime, notably the organised narcotics trade and corruption-related offences.

With his knowledge and experience, he will significantly bolster the team at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. I once again thank Mr Geka Geladze for his dedicated service and wish him every success,” Kobakhidze stated.
