GD's Zarkua suspects Giorgi Gakharia acted at instruction of foreign country
“Gakharia could directly engage Georgia in confrontation with Russia. I am confident that our court will review his case and nobody will avoid the verdict,” said Irakli Zarkua, a member of the Georgian Dream (GD) party.
According to Zarkua, Georgian politics is full of agents.
“The Prosecutor’s Office officially indicted Giorgi Gakharia and here comes the miracle, our Gakharia, who was a patriot, is not employed by a foreign country in its structures. This indicates that our politics is full of agents. It is impossible that an individual who is wanted and indicted is employed by the German government. This indicates our rational doubt that he acted at the instruction of a foreign country, and this was obvious in his activities, the Chorchana episode.
Gakharia could directly engage Georgia in confrontation with Russia. As you know, with this decision, Georgia lost over a million square meters from its monitoring area. I regret that so-called Prime Minister Gakharia was deciphered so easily. I am confident that our court will review his case and nobody will avoid the verdict,” he said.
Irakli Zarkua brought the example of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili, who is currently serving his prison sentence. He also said the next such individual was also former president Salome Zourabichvili, whom “European bureaucracy set a scholarship for undermining Georgian interests.”
Giorgi Gakharia, former prime minister, PM and now leader of the opposition For Georgia party, currently in exile, faces up to 13 years in prison as charged with the June 20-21, 2019 developments in Tbilisi and the Chorchana checkpoint episodes.
