“People who are actively involved in matters concerning Georgia and make harmful statements, including those who set guidelines for Georgian agents, are definitely not serving Georgia’s well-being,” noted Vice Speaker of Parliament Nino Tsilosani while commenting on the statement made by Laura Thornton, Director of Global Democracy Programs at the McCain Institute.

“People who are actively involved in matters concerning Georgia and make harmful statements, including those who set guidelines for Georgian agents on how to act to dismantle and destroy the country, are clearly agents with a specific agenda and definitely do not serve Georgia’s well-being. It’s not news that their goal is to collapse the economy.

The protest participants understood that they were directly destroying the economy through their actions and by worsening expectations. They didn’t care about damaging the economy and did everything to undermine ratings, which are crucial for investments. Despite their harmful actions, the economy continues to strengthen,” stated Tsilosani.

Laura Thornton, Director of Global Democracy Programs at the McCain Institute and former head of NDI’s office in Georgia, wrote in her letter: “Advancing the movement from nightly protests to the stage of day-long, nationwide civil disobedience and strikes – garbage not collected, bank tellers not going to work, truck drivers staying home — would paralyze the economy and greatly enhance the pressure on the Georgian Dream.”
