GD's Mdinaradze: Opposition should name their patrons

“The radical opposition should tell whose orders they follow and who are their patrons when they do not dare to sign European resolutions,” said Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of the parliamentary majority.

Mamuka Mdinaradze commented on the statement by Maka Botchorishvili, the Chairperson of the Georgian Parliamentary European Integration Committee, saying the resolution on the European Perspective of Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova failed to be initiated at the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly because of the opposition representatives from Georgia and the members of the Ukrainian delegation refusing to support it.

Mdinaradze stated that the resolution underscored the significance of accelerating the EU accession of these three countries. The text slammed Russia’s aggressive moves in Ukraine, and the occupation of Georgia’s regions, and reiterated the support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“Despite the destructive actions of the opposition, inside and outside the country, this was another opportunity to show international partners a united position on the EU accession issue, despite our confrontation. But this seems unfit for the goals of the Georgian radical opposition, and both the Georgian and the international community should know this,” he said.

According to Mamuka Mdinaradze, the opposition MPs tried to find an excuse by saying they had remarks about “wording” in the text. He added that the ruling team would help the opposition to “get rid of their assignments” if they told whose interests they served.

“We are talking about the distributed text, on which Maka Bochorishvili also had direct communication with representatives of the opposition, and they did not dare to sign it,” he said.
