GD’s Mdinaradze: Georgia found its place in global processes through high degree of independence
“The key to survival is the quality of independence we have, and we serve to strengthen sovereignty so that the country remains the main actor in decisions concerning itself,” stated Mamuka Mdinaradze, the parliamentary majority leader.
According to him, Georgia has found its place in current global processes while maintaining a high degree of independence.
“It would be a huge mistake to make specific predictions or to say that something will be divided up, as often happens at the everyday level. We’ve often heard such talks, but major decisions don’t remain at the level of such discussions. In global politics, major actors don’t make decisions based on gossip, as our opponents often suggest. They have turned Georgian television stations, which they call critical media, into gossip platforms when, in reality, they represent agent media.
In reality, significant global processes are unfolding, in which Georgia has found its place while maintaining a high degree of independence. This is the main point. No matter how events develop, the only way to survive is to strengthen the quality of independence and sovereignty to such a degree that they cannot make decisions without you in these major negotiations.
Today, European bureaucracy, the EU, and Europe itself face these challenges. Statements are being made that perhaps Ukraine should be involved in matters concerning the war in Ukraine. Unfortunately, see what they have to beg for. For Ukraine to participate in making decisions that concern it. Now this issue has come to the agenda, hasn’t it?!” noted Mdinaradze.
According to Mdinaradze, the United National Movement represented an agency dependent on its commissioners and patrons.
“How long ago were we talking about the fact that decisions about Georgia cannot be made without Georgians? We correctly identified the main priority that would serve this country’s survival and, of course, welfare and development. No one should ever make decisions about us without us. We know the period when, besides murder, torture, and rape being the main niche of the United National Movement, which wasn’t so visible to every citizen, they couldn’t make decisions themselves. Do you know what decisions they could make? Only those about who to kill and punish. Even in this, their patrons were involved. See how far they let them go in this direction, almost to the very end, right?! They couldn’t make even elementary personnel decisions at a slightly higher level without their patrons. They acted on orders.
As they say, when the cart overturned and the road became visible, we saw even better what was happening on this road. They were dependent on their commissioners, patrons, and financiers and represented an agency. An agency that didn’t have the strength to oppose its patron.
Today, the main key to our survival, the recipe, is the degree of Georgia’s independence that we have. We all serve to strengthen this degree of independence and sovereignty so that Georgia remains the key actor in decisions concerning itself. It is the golden key in this big, global, largely uncertain politics at this stage,” Mdinaradze declared.
