GD's Matikashvili: OSCE Secretary General's visit exposes absurdity of opposition's claims
“The visit of the OSCE Secretary General serves as yet another indication that the absurdity the radical opposition attempted to foist upon Georgian society and the international community has collapsed,” stated Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues.
Matikashvili remarked that both individual opposition members and their foreign backers are in a state of complete hysteria.
“No visit can legitimize the government or its authorities; legitimacy is derived from the society and the electorate who expressed their views unequivocally in the parliamentary elections. On the contrary, this visit further demonstrates to radical opposition members that the pretence they tried to impose on Georgian society and the world has crumbled.
It is futile to attempt to create legitimacy issues for the legitimately elected Georgian government. This visit represents another clear instance of global authoritative figures engaging with specific representatives of our government. The individual oppositionists, along with their supporters and external backers, are in a state of panic, highlighting the weakness and futility of the radical path they have chosen. Their plans for the country have been effectively neutralized, and they will not succeed in arranging the conditions that could lead our nation into war and chaos,” Matikashvili asserted.
OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu is currently visiting Georgia.
