GD's Kirtskhalia: Opposition's election choice to highlight their political downfall
“The opposition’s voice is coming from the political grave they dug with their own actions. They have patrons who have emerged directly onto the political stage,” stated Georgian Dream party member Irakli Kirtskhalia.
According to Kirtskhalia, the opposition insulted voters by refusing their mandates.
“We shouldn’t forget that these agents and their patrons declared the parliamentary elections a referendum, yet they only received 38 per cent in these elections. I’m convinced that the opposition’s actual support is at least halved, as they insulted their voters by refusing their mandates. Whether they participate in elections or not, I don’t know, but it will once again confirm how rock bottom they are and how they’ve dug their political grave,” Kirtskhalia stated.
Kirtskhalia has also touched upon the session of the Temporary Investigative Commission on the Activities of the Regime and Political Officials of 2003-2012.
“The opposition is already facing significant challenges because their backers have conflicting agendas with other proxy states, preventing them from providing clear directives as they did before the elections,” Kirtskhalia remarked.
He noted that, given the current circumstances, there are already grounds for a constitutional lawsuit.
“In the sessions of the temporary investigative commission, we witness the extent of the forces we are up against. Those who claim to champion democracy since 2012 are, in reality, exposed agents. The Constitutional Court will determine who will be banned and who will not. Considering the current situation, we have sufficient grounds for a constitutional lawsuit. New issues continue to emerge, prompting the extension of the commission’s term. We will await the commission’s findings before filing a constitutional lawsuit,” Kirtskhalia stated.
