GD MP Bozhadze: Nika Gilauri emerges as active player in opposition against our country and people
“Nika Gilauri, who seemed distant from politics, has emerged as an active participant in the fight against our country and people alongside the radical opposition,” member of the parliamentary majority Vladimir Bozhadze stated.
According to him, “Saakashvili’s family members, as well as David Kezerashvili and Nika Gilauri are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars against their own state and people.”
“Thanks to FARA, we learned that Saakashvili’s retired mother paid one million dollars to lobbying companies. Then David Kezerashvili, who plundered the Georgian army, paid 500 thousand dollars. Now it turns out that Nika Gilauri, who seemingly stood far from politics, wasn’t financing the radical opposition, and whose activities were supposedly limited to charity, has signed a 600,000-dollar contract with a lobbying company to promote their activities in America, including political activities, and establish contacts with various senators and officials.
This is not illegal, but it once again shows that Nika Gilauri, along with the radical opposition, is also involved in the fight against our country and people. The funding and resources they have are being selflessly spent against their own country, and FARA has once again confirmed this. This proves that along with the radical opposition, Nika Gilauri is also involved in the political struggle that we have been witnessing in recent days.
Senator Joe Wilson was also involved in these processes, and apparently, other senators, who are distinguished by their statements against Georgia.
Probably the authors of the Megobari Act will turn out to be the people who, as a result of this lobbying campaign, are very interested in damaging Georgia-American relations and Georgia’s international image. It seems that the result of this funding could be a further strengthening of the policy that we see in this direction. This policy is completely different from American state policy, including concerning Georgia, but the fact is that Saakashvili’s family members, as well as Kezerashvili and Nika Gilauri, are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars against their own state and people,” Vladimir Bozhadze stated.
Following FARA requirements, a document was published on the website of the US Department of Justice, according to which Nika Gilauri’s company hired a lobbying firm in the US for 600,000 dollars.
