GD Executive Secretary claims growing int'l support amid sovereignty discussions
“Those who respect Georgia and its choice, the choice of the Georgian people, are primarily being criticized. There was one country that supported us, then it became two, both of which were criticized, and now their number has grown to five – this means that those countries boldly support the truth where they can make absolutely independent decisions without any control,” stated Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the Georgian Dream party.
According to Mdinaradze, Georgia will have more supporters in the future.
“I’m not suggesting that everything is entirely subordinated to some form of control in the remaining 22 countries, but there seems to be a reluctance to take an opposing stance. For instance, the Baltic nations exhibit a more aggressive posture. In areas where the degree of independence is minimal under the current governance, their leaders display a sharper and more radical disposition towards the Georgian people. We have done nothing to incite this.
The Baltic countries are more confrontational and openly express their hostility, even to the point of imposing sanctions, due to the lack of independence ensured by their current rulers. Our interactions are not harmful to their people; our stance reflects this reality. The present authorities in the Baltic states are unable to guarantee even a basic level of independence, allowing informal groups to influence decisions such as the imposition of sanctions.
As a result, those nations that maintain maximum sovereignty and independence stand with us, while others have effectively nullified their sovereignty and degree of independence and adopted an aggressive stance.
Currently, five countries support us, and I anticipate that this number will grow in the future, especially as the situation in the U.S. evolves,” Mdinaradze stated.
