GD Chair says opposition needs President Zourabichvili in office

“The opposition speculates that the Georgian Dream tries to amass votes for the President’s impeachment from backstage, while the President worries about not knowing how many days she has left on the post,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, the Georgian Dream party chair.

The GD Chair presumes that the impeachment will not have the support of more than 90 MPs. Also, Kobakhidze believes that President Zourabichvili counted on the opposition when she violated the Constitution.

“The radical opposition, the collective United National Movement, needs Salome Zourabichvili in office in the pre-election period and even after the elections. They know they will lose the elections and are preparing for the post-election period to speak about forged polls, and they need the President’s support. Therefore, this collective UNM cannot pull out with their dear partner, Salome Zourabichvili, during this one year,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.

The Georgian parliament will hold an impeachment vote against President Salome Zourabichvili after the Constitutional Court makes its ruling.
