GD Chair says EU talks for Georgia to open in December next year

“As we were told, the issue of opening negotiations for Georgia will be discussed in December next year. We will be ready before and even earlier to launch talks,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the “Georgian Dream” party.

Kobakhidze claims that the nine priorities are being implemented and will be “vigorously pursued.”

“Everyone knows that in reality, in all respects, Georgia is ahead of Ukraine and Moldova, as well as other candidate countries with whom talks have already begun. Therefore, we are sure that by December we will be ready to start the negotiations,” Kobakhidze said.

“We did not lie to the population before and we are not lying now,” the GD Chair went on, highlighting the significance of the candidate status.

“Regarding the falsehoods propagated by the opposition, they claimed that the nation would suddenly profit economically and financially from having a candidate status. They indicated that the amount would be approximately $17 billion, but their claims were completely untrue.

The candidate’s status sends a strong political statement to the people of our nation, the states around it, and our country itself. This is a true appraisal that is in harmony with reality,” Konakhidze stated.
