Gakharia for Georgia's Sharashidze: Punishing individuals by criminal law for different viewpoints is a step toward dictatorship
“Criminal law will punish people for having different viewpoints,” said Giorgi Sharashidze, MP from the Gakharia for Georgia party.
According to Sharashidze, by adopting disputable laws, the ‘Dream’ seeks to maintain its power at any expense.
“Legitimacy does not require making the legislation stricter. Criminal law will punish people for having different viewpoints. Legitimacy requires universal support from the people, which, unfortunately, ‘Dream’ lacks. The steps they are taking can be assessed not only as a step towards establishing an autocratic regime, but towards dictatorship. By adopting disputable laws, the ‘Dream’ seeks to maintain its power at any expense,” he said.
