French Minister Delegate for European Affairs condemns repression against opposition in Georgia
“Repression against the opposition in Georgia is unacceptable,” stated Benjamin Haddad, French Minister Delegate for European Affairs, according to the Embassy of France in Georgia.
Haddad emphasized that France condemns the authoritarian turn of the Georgian Dream government following what he described as neither free nor fair 2024 elections.
“The repression of the opposition in Georgia, with the arrest and conviction of Zurab Japaridze, Nika Melia, Nika Gvaramia, Mamuka Khazaradze, Badri Japaridze, and Giorgi Vashadze, is unacceptable. France condemns the authoritarian drift of the Georgian Dream, following neither free nor fair elections in 2024,” he asserted.
