For Georgia's Parulava: Revolutionary plans, presidential palace storming, and court burning are unacceptable
“We have witnessed dangerous and grave crimes. The storming of the presidential palace, the burning of the court, and provocative revolutionary scenarios are actions that are unacceptable to us,” MP Giga Parulava, a member of the political council of the Gakharia for Georgia party, stated.
He emphasised that the primary focus must be on implementing a pragmatic and peaceful policy.
“We have witnessed dangerous and grave crimes. The storming of the presidential palace, the burning of the court, and provocative revolutionary scenarios are actions that benefit the Georgian Dream and delight our enemies. Such crimes and actions are advantageous for the propaganda of the Georgian Dream. This is unacceptable to us. We have always maintained that the main priority in this country must be the implementation of a pragmatic and peaceful policy,” Giga Parulava has said.
For context, on November 29, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders within the Strong Georgia–Lelo coalition, was detained after attempting to set fire to the Tbilisi City Court registry building at dawn. According to his lawyer, Giorgi Rekhviashvili, Elisashvili regrets that he was unable to see his protest through to the end, describing his actions as a deliberate act of resistance.
The Prosecutor’s Office has charged Elisashvili with attempting to commit a terrorist act at the Tbilisi City Court. The charges carry a potential sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison. The Office has also released footage of the incident.
