For Georgia's Parulava: Khabeishvili has likely been pondering different political niches in prison
“I have no faith in those political leaders who, whether consciously or unwittingly, took part in the October 4 revolutionary and provocative plot,” stated MP Giga Parulava, Deputy Chairman of the parliamentary faction for the Gakharia For Georgia party.
Giga Parulava was asked to comment on the letter published by Levan Khabeishvili, Chairman of the Political Council of the United National Movement (UNM).
“The United National Movement and its individual leaders possess no coherent ideology or distinct political niche. What their ideology truly amounts to became glaringly obvious on October 4, given the consequences they inflicted upon the public through their provocative and revolutionary plots.
Levan Khabeishvili has likely been pondering various political niches during his time in prison. What kind of response he will receive from the public remains to be seen. Personally, I have no faith in political leaders who, whether consciously or unwittingly, participated in the October 4 revolutionary and provocative plot. This is our very recent past, and it severely damaged state interests. Consequently, when you align yourself with such revolutionary scenarios and actively execute them, we cannot believe in the overnight transformation of such politicians just a few months later,” Parulava stated.
For context, Levan Khabeishvili, Chairman of the UNM Political Council, outlined his positions in a letter published on his Facebook page. Khabeishvili wrote that ‘same-sex marriage will never exist in Georgia,’ asserting that a family ‘always will be the union of a man and a woman.’ Regarding foreign policy, he stated that the party ‘will maintain a rational, state-centric policy towards the Russian occupiers’ to guarantee stability and peace unconditionally.
