For Georgia’s MP Sharashidze: GD does everything to push Georgia farther from Europe, entangled in its own lies

“Georgian Dream is attempting to distance Georgia from Europe, trying to maintain power at all costs, and is hopelessly entangled in its own lies,” MP Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party, has stated.

Sharashidze dismissed claims that the European Parliament’s resolution constitutes an attack on the Georgian Church as a complete fabrication.

“Yesterday, during the plenary session, the speech by the Chairman of the European Integration Committee was built entirely on falsehoods. We are being told that this resolution is at war with the Georgian Church. Let them show us a single sentence from the resolution that attacks the Church.

Georgian Dream is entirely lost and entangled in its own lies. They are doing everything to push Georgia as far away from Europe as possible. The government is doing absolutely nothing to improve the situation. For Georgian Dream, reality is solely about how they can retain power at all costs.

But there is another, true reality, one where the rule of law is violated, and human rights are left unprotected. Everything else is just an illusion conjured by Georgian Dream to hold on to power,” Giorgi Sharashidze told GPB First Channel.

For context, the European Parliament adopted a resolution regarding Georgia during its session on June 17.
