For Georgia’s MP Khvedeliani: Pre-planned assault on MPs demands criminal investigation, apologies are not enough
“A pre-planned and organised assault on Members of the Parliament of Georgia took place right before the eyes of the country’s Prime Minister and the entire government, including the Minister of Internal Affairs. Three days have already passed, yet there has been absolutely no response, even though a criminal investigation should have been launched immediately,” MP Tata Khvedeliani, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party, wrote on social media.
Khvedeliani emphasised that every single individual involved in and responsible for the crime will be held accountable.
“Meanwhile, Mzia Amaghlobeli is in prison for slapping a police officer; a mother of four is jailed for colouring in a protest banner with a felt-tip pen; and peaceful, innocent actors are locked up simply for the love of their country. You cannot just limit yourselves to apologies! Every single person involved in and responsible for this crime will face justice,” Tata Khvedeliani wrote.
