For Georgia's Khvedeliani: Under Gakharia’s premiership, Georgia was among top three; now we have backsliding
“Georgian Dream remains in power, guarding the stolen people’s money; all in exchange for the country’s European future,” stated MP Tata Khvedeliani, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party, speaking to GPB First Channel.
Khvedeliani expressed his scepticism about any imminent improvement, emphasising that the government’s continued aggressive stance leaves little hope for change.
“The report is severe, but its content was anticipated given the current circumstances. Of course, Georgian Dream bears responsibility for this, considering the violent actions and regression the country has recently experienced. Back in 2020, Georgia was among the leading countries in the region during Gakharia’s premiership; now, there has been a clear decline in democracy. Other nations, particularly Moldova and Ukraine, have taken the lead. Unfortunately, we do not foresee improvement, as the government persists with its aggressive approach. They are doing everything possible to keep the country in self-isolation. Reforms are essential, and the government must be willing to implement them. Ultimately, what Georgian Dream is most focused on is maintaining power and guarding the stolen wealth of the people; all in exchange for the country’s European future,” Khvedeliani concluded.
