For Georgia's Khvedeliani: GD’s chose 'best defence is a good offence' strategy; time to address reality in Georgia
“Shalva Papuashvili and Georgian Dream have adopted a ‘best defence is a good offence’ strategy. Naturally, they have no other options left,” said opposition MP Tata Khvedeliani, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party.
Khvedeliani responded to the statement made by the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, who remarked, “Brussels must restore its relations with the Georgian people through respect for European values. If Brussels truly wishes to return to those values, the first step is to acknowledge and respect democracy.”
According to Khvedeliani, it would be more appropriate for the Georgian Dream representatives to “discuss the situation that has arisen in Georgia under their rule.”
“They have effectively dismissed our country’s European future and, with the assistance of the United National Movement, have plunged us into a political deadlock. Now we hear these detailed plans on how to return to European values, but it would be far more relevant if they addressed the local realities and the situation our country faces under their governance,” said Tata Khvedeliani.
