“Georgia is a participating country in the OSCE. It has a security agenda within the organization. Any attempt to use the OSCE for other purposes is unacceptable,” said Maka Botchorishvili, Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

According to the FM, during the ministerial, she stressed that international organizations should not be used for the political purposes of specific groups.

“Georgia is a participating country in the OSCE. It has a security agenda within the organization. Any attempt to use the OSCE for other objectives is unacceptable, and emphasizing this is significant. I stressed during the ministerial that international organizations should not be used for the political purposes of specific groups. Cooperation within the OSCE is significant, regardless of this organization’s effectiveness. For us, the principles, which represent the basis for this organization, are valuable and Georgia’s issue should always be on the agenda.

Switzerland will assume chairmanship of the OSCE from January, and it is important that the visit of the Swiss Foreign Minister, as the chairman country, to Georgia takes place shortly. We discussed these issues with the Swiss FM, and we expect that future chairmanship attaches adequate attention to the issues concerning security challenges,” she said.
