FM Botchorishvili meets French counterpart, highlights renewed focus on EU relations and France's support

In New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili met with Jean-Noël Barrot, France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, the two officials discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Emphasis was placed on the importance of political dialogue and the need for active communication to address shared challenges.

The conversation also covered Georgia’s European integration process. Both ministers expressed hope that relations with the European Union would return to their usual agenda, with particular recognition of France’s vital support for this endeavour.

“The discussion also addressed regional security challenges and the ongoing occupation of Georgian territories by the Russian Federation.

Maka Botchorishvili thanked her French counterpart for France’s active support for Georgia in various international forums.

The meeting concluded with discussions on cooperation across a range of fields,” the statement from the Foreign Ministry reads.
