“Creating a legislative framework is a way to regulate this or that issue, in this case, foreign influences. Georgia is taking the right steps to address that challenge,” said Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili.

According to the FM, defending a country from foreign influence is significant for any sovereign state.

“This is what the U.S. does. It tightens the legislation that regulates this sphere, which is an open issue for us, in fact. When we started talking about limiting foreign influence and interference, you saw the reactions to these efforts and steps. This proves once again that legislation and the creation of a legislative framework are the way to regulate this or that issue. Georgia is coping with that challenge with the correct steps,” she said.

On June 25, 2026, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the draft bill, which aims to address loopholes in FARA and prevent foreign adversaries from influencing U.S. policy.
