First University Clinic Director: Papuna Lochulashvili's condition is stable; he shows no acute neurological impairment incompatible with life

“Papuna Lochulashvili has undergone all necessary examinations, the results of which revealed no focal lesions. At this stage, the patient’s condition is stable, and he shows no acute neurological impairment incompatible with life,” stated Levan Ratiani, Director of the First University Clinic.

He added that should the patient’s current clinical condition be maintained and no complaints recorded, he will be discharged home within 72 hours.

“The patient was brought in by emergency medical services and was admitted to Ward Eight. He underwent all examinations stipulated by protocol, including a computed tomography scan of the brain. The results revealed no focal lesions. The patient’s condition is stable at this stage. He also underwent a full set of biochemical tests and was seen in consultation by specialists across all relevant disciplines. A neurology council was convened today. At this stage, the patient shows no acute neurological impairment incompatible with life. The patient has been offered monitoring and observation and is currently in the neurology department. The patient reports having experienced loss of consciousness and nausea. Since his admission to the clinic, he has not experienced nausea; however, given the nature of his condition, he remains under monitoring. Should his current clinical condition persist and no complaints be recorded, the patient will be discharged home with recommendations within 72 hours,” stated Levan Ratiani.

Papuna Lochulashvili was brought to the clinic by emergency medical services on May 28 following a deterioration in his health.

Lochulashvili sustained physical injuries in Gori. The Prosecutor’s Office has arrested six individuals on charges of exceeding official authority through the use of violence by police officers.
