First-graders plant 1,255 saplings as My First Sapling programme launches in six mountain towns

The My First Sapling programme was launched today, the Environmental Information and Education Centre (EIEC) reported.

On the first day of the programme, first-year pupils planted 1,255 saplings.

Planting events were held in Mestia, Khulo, Adigeni, Ninotsminda, Akhalkalaki and Stepantsminda. The programme will run across Georgia until 9 November, and more than 41,000 first-year pupils will take part.
