Finance Minister meets outgoing EBRD Regional Director

The Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili, has met with Alkis Vryenios Drakinos, the outgoing Regional Director for the Caucasus at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The meeting was also attended by Tomas Kairys, who is scheduled to assume the role on September 1, 2026, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.

According to the ministry, the sides reviewed ongoing projects in Georgia supported by the EBRD and discussed key matters of cooperation.

“The Minister of Finance briefed the EBRD representatives on the country’s current macroeconomic parameters and medium-term forecasts. The meeting focused heavily on regional connectivity and energy projects of strategic importance.

Discussions touched upon current and planned road, rail, and port infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing Middle Corridor connectivity, as well as the critical importance of investing in the Black Sea submarine electricity cable.

The Finance Minister thanked Alkis Vryenios Drakinos for his service in Georgia and expressed confidence that active cooperation would continue under the incoming EBRD Regional Director. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Ekaterine Guntsadze,” the statement from the Ministry of Finance read.
